Our design process allows us to explore the client needs and aspirations to ensure the most practical and innovative solutions are present and discussed collaboratively. All design progress is measured against the client brief.

We have a particular passion for modular and prefabricated construction techniques to help reduce waste, have minimal impact on sensitive sites and streamline the construction process.

It is our aim to maximise passive design principles for the provision of light, ventilation and building climate control. 

Blackcurran encourage the use of recycled building products and can help clients with a targeted approach to procurement if requested. As part of the design process, we can creatively incorporate any existing materials or structures.

Sea Container Home

The Blackcurran Sea Container Home is one of a kind and can be designed to suit any situation. Our aim was to construct the interior of the sea container with as many recycled or second hand materials as possible.

Not only is this approach economical, it closely aligns with the principles of sustainable development in terms of recycling and energy efficiency.

The finished product is a beautiful sea container home, ready for transport to any location.

Blackcurran Design

Blackcurran continuously assess all design progress against budget constraints, local council and r-code requirements and the Building Code of Australia and Australian Standards compliance.

We work closely with consulting engineers to ensure structure and essential services are achieving maximum efficiency, whilst allowing flexibility for future expansion or the integration of future technological advances.

Blackcurran manage architectural, engineering and energy assessment documentation for building licence submission or certificate of design compliance.

Prior to any authority submission, Blackcurran consult with the assessing authority and continue to engage with them throughout the assessment and approval process.
